A Fistful of Dollars Final Duel
This is the last shootout from the 1964 classic Spaghetti western A Fistful of Dollars starring Clint Eastwood who plays Joe, aka The Man with No Name. Joe is a wandering gunfighter who tries to play two rival families against each other, the Rojos and Baxters, by selling false information to both sides for his own benefit. This movie was heavily influenced by Akira Kurosawa’s 1961 samurai classic Yojimbo. Gian Maria Volontre played Ramon Rojo who is trying to wrest control of the Mexican village of San Miguel from Sheriff John Baster with the help of his brothers. Sheriff John Baxter tries to stop this from happening and gets himself killed. (Ramon shoots Joe three more times and he falls against some barrels. Eventually, Joe gets up again. Joe then moves his poncho aside to reveal a large metal plate that was tied to his chest with some rope. He lets the plate fall to the ground. The two watch each other, then Ramon goes to shoot again. However, Joe outdraws him and takes his colt revolver out to shoot the rifle out of Ramon’s hand and kills all his men.)
Joe: When a man with a 45 meets a man with a rifle… you said the man with the pistol’s a dead man. Let’s see if that’s true.
